KODO, Japanese incense-smelling ceremony

Facebook memory reminding system pops up photos from my very first experience of Kodo, Japanese incense-smelling ceremony on the day five years ago.

The traditional ceremony proceeding following steps,

Attendees taught five incenses with its name first, like sandalwood, aloe wood etc...

At the same time, those incense given name, named after part of Japanese songs.

Reference sheet to check incense & part of songs were given and then, 15 attendees smell 5 incenses without given name this time.

At the end, attendees give a presentation your own songs with 5 articles.

It was like a game and I really enjoyed it. Hononable thing is , I was the one who only recognize 5 incenses correctly and winner! Winner called "TAKARA FUNE", treasure ship.

It was really exclusive Japanese activity, cultural experience to even for me Japanese and feeling good to start new year at that time:)
